Trims & Mouldings
Quality checklist for every trim and moulding install. Run through before sign-off.
Pre-Install
Materials on site & checked
Correct profiles, lengths, and quantities. No damage, warping, or defects.
Walls & surfaces prepped
Walls are plumb, flat, and clean. Flag any bows or issues before starting.
Timber acclimatised
Material has been on site long enough to adjust to room conditions.
Install Quality
Mitres are tight
All internal and external mitre joints are closed with no visible gaps.
Coped joints (where used) are clean
Internal corners coped tightly with no daylight through the joint.
Scribes fitted to wall contours
Where walls are uneven, trim is scribed to follow — no large gaps behind.
Level & plumb checked
All horizontal runs are level. All vertical trims (architraves, jambs) are plumb.
Consistent reveals & margins
Even spacing around door frames, windows, and junctions. No wandering reveals.
Nail placement & fixing
Nails set below surface, evenly spaced, no splits. Glue used where specified.
Butt joins aligned & tight
Where lengths join on a run, joint is tight, flush, and on a stud.
Finish & Sign-Off
Filler & caulk applied
Nail holes filled, gaps caulked where trim meets wall. Clean lines, no excess.
Sanded & prepped for paint
All filler sanded flush. No rough edges, splinters, or tool marks visible.
Area cleaned up
Offcuts removed, dust swept, site left tidy. Ready for painter or client walkthrough.
